>>my famle hondo just layed one egg 2 days after her pre egg laying shed. she appeares healthy but is it normal for a female to lay a bad egg real early like that, and if she retains the other eggs until day 10 or 12 is there a chance they will be healthy?

Chris,
Yeah, that's normal: the bad eggs typically come first. Since i doubt the females can "rearrange" the order of the eggs, i guess that means the bad eggs are the ones furthest from the tail originally (if I understand correctly the ova actually move "up" the snake's body--toward the head--and then the oviduct turns and they pass down to the tail to be laid: does anyone know for sure, is that correct, or have i got it--literally-backwards?)
at any rate, in teh past few years i've found my females lay their good clutches closer to 8 days after shed than 10-12. I tryk to put the laybox in on the 5th day after the shed, sometimes the 6th day after.
