Need advice on helping aclimate a new chameleon, first time....

tortuga Jun 15, 2003 10:35 PM

I am finally stepping out into the lizard world! I have been a "tortoise only" herper for years now and have decided to get a Jacksons Chameleon. I am getting a sub-adult shipped to me overnight and need some adive on what to do with him once I receive him. Are there ways to help him oversome his jet lag and the stress associated with overnight shipping? I will have a screen style cage ready with a mister, vines, heat lamp, and florescent lamp. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

peace and quiet is #1,keep kids and animals out of sight.Offer food, and do your 'chores' quietly. He should start not trying to hide or stress in short order!!! My juvie vield comes to me looking for treats and now has no problems with LIGHT handeling, such as weekly weigh-in,going to perch during cage cleaning. He will let you know if your pushing it! patience is the rule, lights out at sunset
