i've had the stheno and the petrii, both of which like to mess up the tanks at night. the males i think do it more often then the females as some sort of courtship behavor.
i house my petrii which are larger in a ten gallon breeder, it's shorter but with the same foot print as a regular ten. i keep the hot side at 85 and let it fluxuate on it's own. i keep the tank humid at night with a heavy mist before i turn in.
i also hold my stheno and petrii with out any issues. in fact the one males stheno sort of cuddles up and just sits. the petrii females are calmer then the males to me. cupping your hand so they feel safe helps. it's all realative to your calmness and if you have CB or WC...8-/ but they are fun as anything to watch at night under a blue row of lights and a bowl of popcorn.
