infertility problems in female

rich_123 Jun 15, 2003 10:52 PM

I have a female leo that has been in my care for about 7 years now. I purchased her from a pet store as an adult, so she's at least 8 years old. The problem is she had 4 out of 5 eggs infertile last year. She's had two this year so far; both infertile. I've bred her to the same male both times. Is she too old to be having fertile eggs or is it most likely a fertility problem in the male? I plan to breed her to a different male who happens to be a patternless next season but would still like to hear what you guys think. Thanks to all those who reply.

she COULD be too old, but not necassarily. it may be her "fault", it may be his, but it may be neither. sometimes for a unknown reasons, even in humans, a couple can't make babies together, but can with other people.
