Worried about my chameleon

mossimo May 02, 2004 04:46 PM

Ive got a vieled chameleon, about a year and a half old.

In the past couple months, i started noticing that he was not producing as much stool as i had noticed in the past. Size, length, over all amount is just tiny compared to 3-4 months ago.

Ive monitored his eating, and he does seem to be taking in just as much food as before, so im wondering if there could be some kinda internal issue forming here that i should be worried about.

(worms, parasites... i dunno... my mind is just spinning with bad thoughts)

Any ideas... please reply to this post.

Thanks so much in advance.

From my own experience only severe parasite infectations will block bowel movements! In some cases the animal may become dehydrated which can cause fecoliths (stool stones visible in x-ray), but for now I would make sure it is drinking regularly and kleep an eye on it. It may also be an intestinal impaction! If you suspect an impaction due to the ingestion of cage bedding then see a veterinarian imediatly! Hope this helps!
