Just a Nice "Normal" female for a change

BillLubak May 02, 2004 04:54 PM

I decided to post a pic of this 2003 holdback female. Sometimes it's nice to see normals too!

Any chance she is het for anything (clown or stripe)?

She reminds me of this 25% chance het stripe I hatched in 2002. However I had some incubator problems that year that may be to blame. She's been breeding but at only just 1,500 grams and kind of skinny looking I'm probably going to have to wait until next year.

Looks like she could be her sister! Out of all the 17 female 2003's I bought last year, she just stood out. I kept two of the 17 for future breeders! She was a farmed baby. She even looks more velvet black and higher yellow than the picture shows. Almost "congo like". I just like her and will probably breed her to a pastel when the time comes.

Beautiful gal you have there!

I have a male similar to that and I've always wondered what would result if you bred the two together.

Any ideas?

Thanks, I've seen similar animals referred to as "congo" balls and suposedly that is a genetic trait. I'm not saying thats what these are because that would upset some people, but she is my favorite normal and should be a nice combo with a pastel.

I understand your passions, I simply adore my guy.

But again the question lurks in my mind... do you or anyone know of a successful breeding of a pair of these? I tried asking this question before and just got destroyed in the forum with sorts of "How dare you!"

If it turned out to be recessive, it could technically be classified as a morph, so long as the patterns were entirely consistent on the specimens.

I know I am openning a can of worms, but I am entitled to my opinion and while these guys do exist naturally, it is rare to find a specimen that is completely 'speckled' as I term them.

Hoping for some answers.
