Tincs in new home

leif May 02, 2004 06:41 PM

Finally moved my Oelemari Tincs fron the "nursery" tank into the viv I set up in January. The toe pads on one are noticably larger than the other 2 so I'm thinking I have 1.2. They are about 5 months out of the water.

i've seen your other full photo and the tank looks great. i just got an 18 gal tall tank for my 3 auratus' because the 10 gal they've been in the last 1.5 years doesn't give me much viewing area. just don't know what to do with all that back wall space. don't know if i want a pond anymore either, don't know alot. but your tank looks great. when did you finish, how long did it take for all that to grow in?

Hi, thanks for the comments!

I finished the tank in January and it's been "running" since then. The broms and other plants were added bit by bit. As soon as they get exposed to all that moisture and bright light they usually take off (cf), but the tank is by no means filled in yet. The background is Great Stuff with embedded driftwood and covered with black silicone and coco bedding. It also has a false bottom with a pump and titanium heater. A waterfall runs into the shallow pool on the right of the pic. The instructions for buildging this type of tank are on blackjungle.com.

The tank can be as simple or complicated as you want to make it. I'v seen great looking tanks with just a substrate, and water bowl. Driftwood, a good planting and leaf litter on the bottom are what give it the "natural" look. Some cork bark flats siliconed to the back make it even better.

Sorry for running on, but building a tank like this is almost as addicting as the darts themselves.....almost
