My cousin sent me this photo for ID. my first thought was Storeria, but he said the 2 he saw were around 18 and 22 inches long. Also it has slight banding pattern.
My next thought was N. watersnake, but the ones I've seen have had much more pattern.
Any ideas?
Older animals can be that dark, especially when they are dry.
