Cage cleanliness

fellblade May 02, 2004 11:53 PM

Is it necessary to change the substrate? If so, how regularly? I'm using commercial dirt. Also how often do you give a cage a thorough cleaning?

the biggest thing for my monitors is cleaning their water bowls everyday. for instance my pil male and argus male both have to mess up a fresh water bowl. not just poop in it but put dirt in them and i know they do it on purpose. bacteria builds up fast and it is a fast way to get unhealthy monitors.

secondly i just spot clean poop.

and for asthetics i clean the glass.

Ok, thanks. I clean the water every two days. Same problem with him bringing dirt into it. He usually poops in the water, any stuff on land I scoop out. I'll probably get around to cleaning the glass soon. So there is no real need to clean out the whole thing eh. Thanks.
