Can anybody give me some tips on how to determine whether my blue tegu is a male or female?

Hi there! We first need the size and age of your blue.
Most tegus, including blues, can be sexed around 16-18". Younger ones need to be sexed by an EXPERIENCED vet via probing.
This is crucial! Females' uterine walls can be easily damaged as they probe shallow; males probe deep.......

Males will have spurs on the bottom of their tails approx 1/2"-1" from their colocial openings (post/after). These spurs are nearly impossible to visually see, but can be felt by rubbing your finger along the bottom sides of the tail. They will feel like warts or little bumps. Females lack these. As tegus mature/age, it is easier to feel these.
