2 week old panther rubbing eyes on things in cage

zag May 03, 2004 10:11 AM

I first noticed her doing this when she got misted, but then I saw her do it before any water had been given for the day. Is this normal, maybe pre-shedding behavior or something else? Whenever she does this, it appears thAt the eye she is rubbing is really bulging out.

Thats how chameleons clean their eyes. They do the weird bulgy thing and rub them on a stick or somthing. My jacksons do this as well when they get wet. if your cham is doing it alot before it is getting wet then i would just take a close look at the eye to make sure there is nothing irritating it. otherwise it is common behavior

I agree with Dr. You shouldn't have anything to worry about unless it keeps it's eyes closed all the time.
