need a dosage...

thegeckobarn May 03, 2004 11:01 AM

how much Panacur for a 25g leo? How do you all do your dosages? I have a cc syringe, just gotta figure out how much to give, and when. Ive been doing a drop on the nose every 2 weeks, but im not sure if thats enough, but thats what I was told...since Panacur is so safe, but I also need it to be effective.

Also...my Panacur isnt diluted...if you dilute it, how much?

If no one can answer this, guess ill have to call my vet. But it shouldnt be too difficult, I suppose

It is suposed to be diluted i think. I don't know the ratio though. but i would think you are giving too much.
Did you have a fecal done? If not why are you treating with pancur?
You best bet would be to contact the vet.
Here is the formula for dosage(copied from one of marcia's posts)
but i don't know how to do the concentration.

Now as far as the doses, the 'theraputic' dose of Flagyl and Panacur is 50mg/kg of body weight. A 60 gram gecko weighs 0.06 kg, and assuming the concentration of the medication is 100:

25mg (dose) x 0.06kg (weight) = 1.5 divided by 100 (concentration)
or
50mg (dose) x 0.06kg (weight) = 3 divided by 100 (concentration)

... means the proper dose of this medication for a 60 gram gecko is 0.015 - 0.03ml, NOT 0.3ml.

Hi

When I had a gecko that I had taken to the vet. awhile back and found that it had pinworms that I had to treat with panacur, well I also had to treat all the others in the same tank and the vet. wrote down some weights and doses for the different weights for me and 25 grams was one of them. The dosage he wrote for that weight was .125 cc.

The Panacur you used may very well have been diluted to and therefore the concentration would differ from Laura's example.
