Still Not Eating...any suggestions???

Chuck420 May 03, 2004 01:09 PM

well my bp is still not eating, i tried offering him live in his tank ( in dangled it infront of him) but he showed no interest. i was thinking of trying him with some fuzzys because they are smaller and maybe he wouldnt feel as scared? if he is scared? he still looks like he has half an eye cap on, maybe not even tho he doesnt really let me get a good look at him before trying to bite. i am thinking about taking him to a vet to get it removed do u think this would be the problem for not eating? his temps are 89-92 on warm and 80 on cool and humidity is 50-60% i tried putting him in a humid hide then removing the cap but i couldnt get it off, then later that night i think he got a piece off or so it looks because his one eye is black like usual, then the other one before had thick silver not just the bottom half looks a bit silver.

what do u think i should do to try and kick start him into feeding? he is sometimes pretty defensive and i was thinking on trying to get him to bite a mouse (hoping it was me) and possibly he will hold on? should i try braining a f/k mouse after warming it up a bit? any help is appreciated
Chuck

make sure it isn't stressed out by anything during feeding. Braining the FK wouldn't hurt either. How long has it been since last eating? are you using undercage heat or overhead heat? if it won't take the warm brained FK try offering a live fuzzy mouse or rat (if it takes the rat it won't have to be switched). Try soaking it in warm (75-80) degree water for like 2 hours for the eyecap removal.
