Gutload question

z10silver May 03, 2004 02:38 PM

What is a good gutload for mealworms? I am currently using just plain oatmeal and some carrot shreds every now and then. What gutload will help the leos grow and put more weight on?

Thanks the help
Zach

i wanna know the answer to that question myself. I formerly used a mix of flukers cricket and oat/wheat bran but the cricket gutload has become to compacted for the mealies to dig. progeckos.com i've heard has one of the best.

Check out my website. I believe it will be under the care section. You can see what I use for all my gut-loads. I have 3 different ones.

I know some people cant afford what I use, or cant find alot of the stuff that I use, but if you use some kind of form what I use it will be a good gut-load.

If you have any questions about it just drop me an email, you can send me an email right through my website.

Take Care!

i found that the spirulina or whatever and the kelp are really expensive so i asked around about it and found that tropical fish food in place of the spirulina, algea, and kelp work just fine.

i thought spirulina was algae...correct me if im wrong as i probably am...

well..as far as gutloads go...progeckos definitely has one of the best if not THE BEST....and its premixed...and well worth every buck...my adult have fattened up quite since....definitely a great product...the flukers farm one is pretty good too...not saying that shayna's is bad...but most of us are pretty lazy and wouldn't mix everything like she said...im sure her gutload is as good as the top products if not better...but if you want a premixed decently priced gutload...PROGECKOS ALL THE WAY...hehe just tell him Eric Chen referred you...hes a great guy to work with!..just look at his geckos...

Actually, the best gutload you can buy is from a guy named Ronny at cricketfood.com

His guy load is vet approved and is the best.

I dont know if it is the best... I dont think their is a best, it all depends on what people like and look for. Mabye the guy at progeckos.com has a better one but he hasnt taken it to a vet to get it "approved"... so dont just go and say something is the best until you have tried all of them.
