How long do Australian water dragon take to grow big?

tiliquagirl Jun 16, 2003 02:14 AM

When do water dragons stop growing? How long does it take until they're fully grown?
I have a water dragon that is almost one and a half years old and I don't think he's very big. I mean he's grown A LOT! But he's just growing slowly and I'm finding it hard to believe that he'll grow as big as what they're supposed to grow. How long (in center metres if possible) was everyone else's water dragons when they were about 6 months old?

My Aussies are 11 months old. The 3 males are 22"-23" the last time I measured them, which was a few weeks ago. My female is only about 18" right now. Even still, she eats hopper mice. None of my dragons ever showed any interest in pinkies. Then one day I dropped a hopper in the cage and every one wanted one, the female got the first one. Aussies normally are full sized by two years of age, but it may take longer if they are cooled in their first couple winters. I did not cool mine this past winter. I think another reason my guys are growing so quick is they have a variety of food available at all times. It seems that the more I give them, the more they eat. Hope this helps.
