Is this feeding okay for a juvie?

mastino177 May 03, 2004 04:32 PM

For the past two or three weeks (this will be the third, I think), I have been feeding my beardie just greens (mustard, turnip), squash (yellow and butternut), and rasberries (haven't had any for about a week). Oh, and the occassional mix of veggies from Kroger. He hasn't had any crickets for about the past three weeks. When I bought him, he was probably about 4 to 5 weeks old if that (August from PetsMart). He has had crickets and the occassional meal/super worm regularly ever since I had him. I've always dusted everything, but I have dusted just once or twice a week for the last three weeks (all veggies, no insects). I think he is a little small, but I'm hoping to get a MVB set up soon. I've always had a UV light on him, but I don't think its the best thing anymore. Changed the bulb this past November. With the summer and warmer weather, I'm going to try to get him more "sun" time. That is...if I can find or build a wire cage with small enough gauge. Any recommendations or opinions on any of the above?

He is still growing--and then even as an adult (about 12-18 months)he will need it every few days. He should be getting protein every day--for a few more montsh at least.

If you don't want to use crickets, try silkworms--our guy loves them. Also try adding pellets (RepCal Juvi..)to his salad...they have the protein he needs.

His salad mix sounds great--wish our guy would eat them that well!
