Urgent Question

moclab May 03, 2004 05:02 PM

My corn snake is about 7 months old and is still pretty small. It has just eaten a pinkie which I assume is too big. The pink is stuck in the snakes "throat" (right below it's head). He didn't swallow it lengthwise, but looks as the pink is balled up in his "throat". Question is: Do I need to do anything like help remove the pink? Will he eventually suffocate or spit it out on his own? I'm quite worried, he usually doesn't have this trouble.

Any help?

The snake won’t suffocate because it’s air tube is at the front of its mouth. The pinkie will either come back up or the snake will work it out and it will go down. I have had a corn swallow pinkie mice from the middle before. It takes the some time but if it made it past the mouth it should go down the rest of the way.
Good Luck
