Yay for dandalions!

UroJade May 03, 2004 05:46 PM

i found something my female saharan will eat hopfully i'll be able to find enough for her she'll only take 2-3 bites of greens but everyday the dandalion flowers are completely gone.lol im starting a garden of dandalions and i need to get some hibiscus plants
oh yeah, my mom bought a specialty grafted hibiscus plant its got flowers three times as big as normal ones, she got it at home depot. i think it might be dead becuase it got left out in frost last week but if it survives can the Uros eat it? well not all of it lol just the peices i can pluck while my moms not looking.
im guessing i might have somthing in the soil like fertilizer or plant food that would make it inedable for the lizards how long does it take for that kind of stuff to go away?

Most gold courses use many fertilizers and i assume pest- insectisides as well to keep the grass as "clean" as possible. If that is the case with yours, it would be very bad for you to feed them to your lizard. Ask the Head Hauncho there if they do/have used any -sides or fertilizers in the past, and how long ago. If you want to use dandelions, they are best picked from lawns you KNOW are clean, like yours.

I get mine in the woods/open fields. The only thing that I really need to worry about here is the bugs that may be hiding out int here. I put the flower in some boiling water to kill anything there and "clean" them out. Nona had his first one today and LOVED it...

i get mine from my yard and i've started seeds that im keeping indoors for year round food and i started some outside in my old garden area.
i was wondering ,i know not to use dandalions from the side of the road or lawns i dont know about but is it safe to use the seeds from those plants to grow new food plants?

even if they use insecticides, dropping them in boiling water wont free them of that? and also, when u say drop in boiling water, do u literally mean just dip and take out? or keep in for 2 mins, or longer?

and what would be wrong with fertilizers?
