savannah monitor food

What do you guys think is the best diet for a savannah monitor? He/She is about 3 years old at least and a little under 3 feet long. I call her a she but I think its a he, anyhow, I feed her a mouse once a week and then canned Science Diet Canine Senior Chicken Dog Food (less fat in the k-9 senior than regular) 2-3 times per week, I wrap the dog food pieces in collard greens from my Iguana's food. I have had 2 savannahs now and they both seem to be doing fine on this diet, my vet said it is ok, and then another vet I know said they should have only mice. I need more opinions. Do I need to change her diet? She has just recently started bleeding in her mouth too, I have a call into my vet about that. Her gums bleed and now I pulled a little yellowish white chunk out from the roof of her mouth, but she is bleeding inside her mouth on the roof?!?!

Help!!

I would take him straight back to the vets as it sounds like it has mouth rot, i would also forget the dog food and stick to rodents, chicks and large insects, locusts and such this will also aid in exercising your monitor i would also up the feeding a bit i still feed my adult savs once every other day or daily if they except it they are hungry if not they won't i know savs are prone to overeating but if your enclosure is large enough then they can get alot of exercise chasing the crickets and locusts
