Finally... a clutch!!!

Matt J May 03, 2004 07:34 PM

Well, I got no response when I posted a pic of my female Borneo and what I thought was the ovulation event. Turns out I was correct and it was indeed just that! The female gave 12 good eggs today to put in the incubator. Hopefully in 55 to 60 days I'll have some lil' biting machines to set up. Best of luck to everyone trying to produce this season.

Matt
p.s. - The adult pair are simply OUTSTANDING examples (in my opinion of course I really hope the eggs go full term. I can't wait to see how the babies will look!

Congrats! That is awesome! How big and old are your adults. I just picked up a pair of borneos that I would like to breed next year.

Best of luck with incubation!

>>Congrats! That is awesome!

Thank you!

>> How big and old are your adults.

The male is just over 5 feet and probably getting near the 20 pound mark. The female is closing in on 5 feet but a bit less robust. The reason? I NEVER sexed them upon receipt (bad idea). So, I always fed a little more to what I thought was the female... turns out that was the male! Hahaha... oh well, she's a bit thin now, but will rebound just fine I'm sure.

They are VPI produced and were acquired december of 2000. They were initially sold to a great guy in Indiana from whom I bought them for a song (he knew I was a Borneo nut and wanted them to wind up in a good home. Thanks Greg!!!). I think they were nearly 18 months old at the time. So, I put them at least at the five year age, maybe nearly 6 now. I don't have an exact birth date.

Good luck with them. I've always enjoyed them and FINALLY got a viable clutch from this subspecies... hooray!

>>Best of luck with incubation!

Many thanks,

Matt
p.s. - Nice pics of the Woma's hatching on the Python forum! Seems you do pretty well with them. Good deal.

That is very cool. My female is 5ft and very girthy! My male is a little small but he should have no problems catching up. My female is 6 years old and the male is 3 years old. I really like these guys. I will post some pictures very soon. My female looks a lot like yours!

Hey Matt,
That is so cool man! I wish you all the best with the clutch and mama. Keep me posted, and I'll certainly keep you posted if I should change my mind about picking up additional off-spring.

Many thanks! I'm happy about it. It's been years in the making. Now to get my GTP to finally produce... arg! That's the next quest. Hahaha...
