I dont have a crested gecko yet but i really want one.I have been researching them for a fe3w months and I think as soon as i put polyurathane on and modify the big 4x2x2 cage i have ill be ready. Is a cage that is 2x2 floor space and 4 feet high to large for 1 crestie??Also how many coats of poly urathan should i put on so the moisture doesnt rot the wood or make it mold????and tips about this cage and the coats of sealer would help
Thanks

as many people have mentioned cresteds are not the sharpest hunters out there. in a cage that size it would probably have trouble finding food. especially if it's a baby......

For a crested go with the kritter keepers i've been suggested to get, well if the one you get is a baby, otherwise, you could fit 1.2 in the cage of your specifications, prob more. I would put 3-4 coats of poly on, and let it vent out for a week or two before putting anything in it. I'm guessing that would be adequate to protect it from moisture.

Im still very much a newbie myself with cresties .So any information I can offer is minimal.

However I use wooden screen cages I make myself. Three coats of poly on my iguanas cage has kept it safe for 4 1/2 years so far .And his cage is enclosed with wood panel sides to retain heat better. He gets misted twice a day ,so far no mold whatsoever.

As for the hunting question ... I have found not all cresties are created equal I have a 6 month old that I wouldnt hesitiate for a min with a cage as big or bigger than yours.4 crickets dont make it 2 minutes when I offer them in a 18x18x36 cage.
However I have a adult pair that have difficulty in a cage the same size unless I place the crickets in a plastic shoebox then place the shoe box into the cage.
