Stupid question bout housing

PatrickR May 03, 2004 10:19 PM

I have a 7'x2.5'x2.5' custom glass fronted cage houseing my 8' female Columbian Red Tail. If I were to get a new addition, a neonate red tail, would housing together be an option? My ifrst instinct would be to seperate but maybe since its so small, the big one wouldnt even think it was food or nothin but then again there is always the problem of squishing... Can I get a finite answer please

Here is my opinion . . .

Definitely seperate them. A few reasons:

1)Babies may not eat when placed in a large enclosure
2)The baby will probably get squished
3)The baby will not have proper temps, more than likely
4)No benifits, to the snakes, when house together, only problems can occur
5)They could give each other diseases

Really, all snakes, except when pairs are placed together for breeding, during breeding season, should be housed seperate. It is what is best for them, hands down.
