Not feeling too good

shupach May 03, 2004 10:50 PM

i've noticed lately that my bp has been acting kinda weird. His eyes are slightly clouded which I know cant be good. Also I hear him hiss sometimes, and I've never really heard this before. I tried to feed him today but he decided no. After feeding though I see him rubbing his head/eyes against the half log, also, he is inside the half-log, this is the first time i've seen him since i've had the half log(3-4months) actually sit in it, usually he chills in his little hut I made for him out of a cardboard box(I know sounds getto but he loves it). Is there anything else I should be looking for? or is this just normal behavior?

Thanks,

Phill

If his eyes are getting cloudy and he is rubbing against stuff, he may be starting to shed. A lot of Ball Pythons don't eat during this stage as well. Give him some time and see if he is indeed going through a shed.

signs point to shedding... maybe soak in warm water for 10 min, rubbing against things is normal shedding behavior, cloudy eyes and not eating are normal aswell during shedding

well i just took him back out to inspect his belly and his eyes. The eyes look better and i guess the belly is ok, it hasnt hit the stage where its obvious he will shed, but it is a bit dry. I swear I always freak out that he's gonna die before he starts to shed. Then i post here, and it turns out he's just shedding.

Don't worry, just shedding. Just leave him be and make sure your humidity is up.
