Male breeder viscious towards Female Clear Nail Snow Pastel(pictured)

alphadragon May 03, 2004 11:02 PM

When I switched my Female(pictured) into a new tank with a new male the male who has been showing very aggressive breeding behavior proceeded to tear her up. He would only bite her tail. Haven't seen this with any of my animals before. I thought it would stop but after several blood drawing bites I separated them, and yes I am positive she is a female. If anybody has experience with this I would love to get some feedback.

I also attached a picture of our first baby to shed 3 week old baby who just had its first shed. It is a Sandfire x R/G X Citrus x Yellow/Green Sandfire.

Most clear nailed hypomelanistic males breed to no end. I have had similar situations, what seems to be it is the female is not ready to breed and is not receptive, my female snow X GG is only receptive to males when she is going to produce eggs. Also, most of my males are too aggressive to keep females in with them, they keep trying to breed and never leave her alone, so I have to house them alone and do introductory breeding. One of these males is a clear nailed hypo. This is becoming more and more common.

By they way your dragons look very nice.
