Laboratory Rodent Cages

cyrojack May 04, 2004 09:52 AM

Anyone know where I can get those lab style bin cages for rats? Or does anyone have any good suggestions other than a rack. I only plan on keeping about 3 - 5 females so a rack might be too much. Right now I'm using a 15 gal long glass aquarium with a screen top and it's just too much of a pain to clean.

The company you want is : Allentown Caging Equipment, at 1-800-762-2243. Go to Google.com and put in the company name to go to their website. The 10.5w x 19d x 6h (inches) PP10196TF and WBL1019MMB stainless clip lid will set you back about $31.00 not including shipping. They may not sell only one. Talk with some friends and try for a larger order.

you can also try bigappleherp.com

They have some lab style rodent cages.

What I did for 3-5 females if used a 90gal/L (not sure which) rubbermaid, put 1/2 in hardware cloth on top, made a drop down feeder, soddered out the lips on the inside and made it smooth, and put holes in the side for the water bottles.

I had a 1.4 group in there. and 5 females in there right now. Here is a pic
