Does Anyone feed any staples besides Cricks and Pellets?

nerfherder May 04, 2004 12:19 PM

I need to know if there is anything I can feed my adult beardie as a staple other than crickets or pellets? Thanks!

Okay, I will try them. Can you please tell me where you order from and how you keep them/take care of them? Also how much do you think one adult dragon would eat? Just wondering about how much I should order. Thanks!

There are many places to get them. It's cheaper to buy the eggs and hatch them if you can wait that long. There is care info for raising and keeping silkies on these sites also. If you feed salads and supplements you should be able to get away with feeding silkies 3-4 times a week for adults. I would still feed daily for babies or juvies.

There are plenty of others just do a google search for silkworms.

The staple for my dragons is a green/veggie/fruit salad and several times a week I feed them roaches. I currently have 4 different roach species but only the lobster roach colony is established enough to be fed from regularly. I found that even my most stubborn eaters will chow down on roaches! Just another option for you

I feed mine discoid roachs - they are a lot more easy to take care of than crickets, don't smell, and I can feed all of my several herps different sizes of roach - everything from my anole and tree frog to my beardie.

I got mine at the midwest reptile show but I know that you can get them online.

wax worms, meal worms, butter worms, silk worms, hissing cockroaches when they are large enough, mice, super worms, goliath worms, the list goes on.
