Not as much red on the tail as the hypo Nics I've seen.

If you mean by using the term "hypo" that the snake has a reduction in black pigment, then it does. If you mean "hypo", a proven inheritable trait, then it is a very pretty normal just like the one I have posted here. Many people who see my male think it is a hypo. Until he proves otherwise he is not. There are proven lines of hypos in the Central American and Nicaraguan boas such as the Bryant King line. I have a male hypo Nicaraguan that he produced. Hang on to your snake and see what it produces. You have a very nice snake. Thanks, Chris Ginkel

If this helps , here is a picture of my adult male from Bryant King's proven line.

I would say with almost certianty that yes that is an Hypo Boa and I would also say that it will pass on just like the Salmon gene. Central anerican Hypos are a fairly common natrual color morph and many of them come in each year and are just not reconized. I think I would try breeding that one and see what pops out.
Good Luck

I normally just lurk in this forum, but that does not look like a Central American so much to me as it does a Honduran BCI, right down to the tail color and saddle shape/size. My pair look very similar to the pictured animal, and so do other Hondurans I have seen.

The only Central American hypos that we personally work with are Nicaraguans, and although I will not make any assumptions on your boas specific locality, I will say that it doesn't really resemble any of our hypo Nics, or even our normals. (Like Chris, we are working with both proven and unproven lines). While there is a possibility that your boa could prove to be genetically hypo, it also seems like it could be from a locality that is more characteristically clean than the Nics that we usually see. (It could also just be an unusual looking Nic, I would never judge a locality with absolute certainty based on looks alone). I just say that b/c it reminds me of some of the other boa localities that I have seen that are more commonly clean, colorful boas. Either way its a beautiful boa and I would love to see the babies that it eventually produces.
I hope this post makes sense, my brain doesn't seem to be working so well these days! lol
