New pic of Yaku...

Kestrel May 04, 2004 10:58 PM

Just took a quick snapshot of her and her new set up.. She got a new hide, and put on Cypress..

The new hide is a holder for the ornamental bricks used to support coffins while in the grave during the service. lol. A friend of mine works in a plastics plant that makes them, and had a ton so he gave me a few. lol. They make great hide/water bowl combos! lol!

So she STILL has eaten nothing but goldfish, and even those, infrequently.. Have tried everything in the book with mice and rats.. Still nothing.. I'm going try another live mouse soon, see how she reacts to it scampering around her cage.. She's getting noticably more thin, although she's gained a foot in length since she was born in July 03.

Grocery store chicken has worled a miracle for me..then to ft chicks. You may think its nuts, but my snake will take as many garters i think as you can give her (try chicken first)...my view is something is better than nothing. looks pretty, keep woking...who did you buy it from?

by the way, you are a super addict. You might want to cut down on your work load, green anacondas alone are hard enough to keep properly. i just recently downsized some of my collection and i was not even close to your list. one person does not have time in the day to keep what you have properly. That green cage looked a bit small even for a yearling...newspaper is an easier substrate then mulch...good luck.

Sorry to keep posting...by the way, your website is very awesome and i saw where you got your green. Very nice collection but you really need to work with that green, my opinion would be to forget rodents for now, thats a few steps later...you need a descent diet and eating goldfish rarely isnt going to do it. I really doubt it will refuse a live chick...act quick or you will miss the season...or try what i said before....there are a few posts between me and kelly haller below about switching to rodents from there...no luck for me yet, but i feel i am in a better position than you are right now.

Cool snake. That plastic part looks like it might be thermoformed and not injection molded Eric. What do you think?
You must live in a zoo. How in the world could you possibly take care of all those animals?
Nice conda though.
