Jeff,
You said you have a special way to get the geckos to eat mealworms from a dish, how? I put 8 mealworms in a clear, plastic container that they cannot escape from. He went right up the the side of the container several times and looked at the worms. I'm thinking great, just go up and in and eat. No, he goes in his humid hide. Actually, as I type this I look over and he's looking at the worms. I know he can climb this height (about 2 inches) because it's the same height as his hide he climbs on all the time. Agh! What's your trick? lol

Here's a pic of him sleeping, so cute.

well im not jeff..but i think he would tell you that that mealworms bowl is way to high, i have cut off bottoms of deli cups that are 1/2 and inch high and they work great, you can get somthing a little higher, but that container is way to high, try the top of a deli cup, or cut that container to only about an inch high

I see what you mean. I can ask my stepdad to cut the outer rim of it off which would make it at about 1 1/2 inches high. If not, then I have some ceramic bowls coming that are 2 inches in diameter, not sure how high. They are not clear, purple in fact, but once he finds the worms I don't think it will be a problem. Thanks for the advice, this little guy is going to run me ragged yet. lol

Well, I was talking about getting them to eat mealies in general, not specifically from a dish.. Anyway, to get your leo to take mealies, do the following: Take your gecko out of his cage. Hold him firmly, but not too tight. Cut the head off the mealie and squeeze some guts out. Let the leo lick those guts. After a few licks, if he doesn't automatically just eat it, gently force the part with the guts out into the leo's mouth. The first time your leo cruches down on the mealie, it'll take the whole thing. Repeat this until it's eaten all it can take. After you do this for a few days, you leo should take mealies on it's own. Getting your leo to like mealies will probably help with the dish as well, seeing as how mealies will be a known food source for them.
