Hi there,

The chameleon you are interested in is a Panther Chameleon (Furcifer Pardalis). Ambanja is the locale from which they come from. Two variation of the ambanja are the red bar and the blue bar.

Good VS Bad:

Good - Panther chameleons are generally hardier than other species of chameleons. They are one of the most beautiful chameleons (or animal) in the world. They can also attain a relatively large size. Panthers generally tend to be more tolerant of humans as well.

Bad - Panthers are more expensive than other species. Since they are fairly large, they require a large enclosure. Plan to house a fully adult male in a 4X2X2 all screen cage.

Any chameleon should be considered a display animal. Please note that they are not as hardy as other reptile pets. You should do as much research and planning as possible before making your purchase. Plan for the cost of the animal, in addition to the cost of keeping one.

Having said that, panthers are not difficult to keep as long as you pay attention to them. All it takes is knowledge and time.

Here is a link to an article about what to expect in terms of setting up for a panther chameleon.

Good Luck.
