I believe the ridge tail, or ackies, are the best. I just ordered one, and I will find out for sure! Black throats are also good, and I have a water monitor (such a friendly little guy). Savannahs are pretty mean when young (I have one of those, too).

Bosc and nile monitors are the most popular as they are $5-40 monitors. They dont make the best or close to the best captives at all but they are the most popular, most die because they are the most popular and most inexpensive by far.
