I ordered a snake from a breeder (over the internet). It was a male boa 100% het albino (Kahl) - when it was shipped to me yesterday morning, it was freezing cold and it's back end was limp (It was shipped with a heat pack, but it was still extremely cold). It was having a very hard time moving. I held it in my hands for a few minutes just to let it warm up. The snake seemed extremely small for being 8 months old- it was also very skinny. Last night I checked on it and it was dead. What would be the common practice in this type of instance? Full refund? partial refund? no refund? (I have been keeping snakes for over 2 years and have raised up three snakes from the age of three months old till now (over 2 years old) It isn't like this was my first snake. I have two suriname redtails and two cornsnakes. This is a first for me so could someone tell me what would be fair for both parties in this situation. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Have you contacted the breeder yet? If not, the lapse in time might work against you. When others have posted problems like this it seems that it's recommended to 'preserve' the body, take pics of what it arrived in, the snake, etc and contact the breeder/shipper asap and see what they are willing to do. did you discuss or did they provide you with a guarantee policy, etc?

I have already sent an e-mail to the breeder last night - and I have not heard back yet. I have the body - I might take pics - I am not sure yet. I hope that I can get at least half of the purchase price back - or a new snake. on the webpage it says that live arrival is guaranteed. It was alive when it arrived but seemed very weak - and died last night. I don't know if I will be purchasing snakes online anymore. I think that going to shows might be safer.
