Orange Elongata and a question... see PIC inside...

Matt J May 05, 2004 09:47 PM

Hey all,

Just curious if anyone else has seen/kept an 'orange' Elongata? This female is SO colorful and has a great orange overall wash. I've never seen another like her, ever. Anyone else? Pics?

Thanks!

Matt
p.s. - Please forgive the epoxy job on the rear end. A friend of mine who was keeping her thought she was way too thin/worn in the posterior, so he did a little patch job.

Nice looking tortoise. Did all the babies look like this hatchling?

Thanks CW! Only one of four eggs made it this season. A long story with all this, but yes, we have hatched one before that was just as orange (more actually when I recall it), but we did not keep it... BAD move for a few reasons and part of a long winded story. Bottom line: The female is back in my care full time and I hope to produce more babies this coming season!

Is this the one you hatched for me..............?

Hahaha... I'll have to get back to you on that...

So far it's a keeper. But, I will have it at the expo for display. I'll probably put an obscene price on it just to make sure I wind up keeping it! Hahaha...

they're both lovely! was the mother injured or something around her tail where that white bit is? looked more like some sort of bandage than natural shell...

Thank you!

It's epoxy. A friend keeping her for a number of years thought she was WAY too thin (worn thin) in the back scute and used epoxy on the area to protect it.

Thanks for the kind words!

Nope, no orangatas here, but I do have a good looking pancake that just popped out.
