i would suggest not using either of those. u should only use sand made for reptiles.
Sand made for reptiles is very expensive and in most cases harmful to them. Playsand is great and cheap. I used the lighter color, but I don't think it matters, whatever one you like better should be fine.

Thanks...is this normal? The sand was wet like and cold. Does it usually heat up eventully?
When I bought playsand at walmart it was like that. I think because it was kept outside and it had rained. It will dry out and warm up eventually, but I worry about bacteria. I just don't use sand at all, I like shelf liner & paper towels.

try to take from the middle of the pallet and it should be drier. I wont use the wet bags, slightly damp is ok but dry it out right away, dont let it sit.

Oh no Well I am at work and I already but in his cage.....do you think it will be okay until I get home? I was thinking of using a hair dryer to dry it out, do you think that would worK?
but if you are concerned about it, you can blow dry it. Bacteria isn't really that much of a problem in my opinion. There is much more bacteria in the wild. Just make sure you keep the sand clean and you won't have any problems.
i'm probably completely wrong on this... but about saying theres more bacteria out in the wild. well i would think that they are born and raised in that bacteria so they kinda grow immunities to it. compaired to a beardie that is spent it's life in a bacteria free environment all thier life and then they are exposed to some new bacteria... it might not be good.
just my 2 bits.
I also believe that to many vets want to see parasite free dragons and way overmedicate leading to more problems with suseptability to parasites and early death do to overmedication.

there are far more cases of impaction caused by "reptile friendly" sand than just regular playsand.
