potty training troubles

debs1018 May 06, 2004 08:48 AM

Our ig was doing good with pottie training in the tub. Then he/she stopped when the cage got changed alittle. That was awhile ago. He/she now poops on the napkin I put down for it BUT it has been going poop also on it's branch, the floor and even while it's on the side of the enclosure he/she poops and it runs down the wall. What gives? Any suggestions on this?

My iguana used to be toilet trained, until he got too big... Now I put a cat litter pan on top of newspapers, and filled it with a little bit of water, and in the summer, he goes outside like the dog does. The only problem I have is when summer turns to fall, and he gets confused that he can't go outside anymore. So, for 2 weeks, i sort of have to re-train him. He's pretty routine though, he goes about the same time of the day. You just have to keep an eye on them, and if they start to go, pick them up and put them where they are supposed to go. They'll get the hang of it.

Thank for the info. Right now either I or my son (who the ig belongs to)takes Tiny outside on his/her leash and within 3 min. it goes. No mess in the enclosure. We'll see if this works. Tiny is about 6 months or so and growing like a weed.Thank you again
