Advice please on bad shed.

Moyni May 06, 2004 09:27 AM

My 3 yr old male had his first ever bad shed last week, it was in bits all over the place. He was unusually not interested in his feed just after, and although his eyes look clear enough there are still bits hanging from his neck area, which makes it look like his head isn't clear.

He's a bit jumpy, especially round his head, so I don't feel like trying to peel it. I've poured water on the substrate a couple of times, at the end with the under tank heater so it gets steamy, so hopefully softens it for him to rub it off. But I wasn't sure if the steamy atmosphere will cause breathing problems.

How long can I leave it moist and steamy, and how long can I leave him with an incomplete shed, without causing other health problems?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Take a pillowcase. Make it handluke warm with water. Put the snake in it and leave it overnight in it's cage on the warm spot. In the morning when you take it out you will have a brand new shiny snake Good luck.
