Does Anyone Else Here Like the "Mean" Tokay Traits

Dillon Jun 16, 2003 11:51 AM

I have been looking through the posts these last few days and came across a few posts on taming tokays. I was just wondering if anyone else here likes their tokays to be somewhat aggressive. I personally bought my tokay because I like how they are bold, beautiful, and aggressive. I don't poke her with a stick or anything to keep her mean, but I dont try to handle her and make her more tame. To me this is one of the tokays more admirable traits, but congrats to those of you who managed to tame your tokays without harming or stressing them.

I think its actually kinda cool when they bark and open their mouth at me but its also kinda fun to have it climb on you....especially when it gets big. I do miss how mine used to bark at me and gape its mouth when I first got it. But hey, it still beats worms against the glass and thats pretty vicious if you ask me.

actually thats the trait that makes tokays so easy to remeber.the first time I saw a tokay when I was 8 and got to handle it it bit me so hard Ill never forget it and Ive never forgot it.I love these lizards there like pit bulls of the reptile world.so in all I like their personalitis the way they are.

I keep tokays for that reason, thats why I dont handle my male at all and the females very little. But they have tamed down and dont bark at me when I put my hand within inches of them. I've had many a friends jump thru the ceiling when there out on the glass and they stick their face or hand real close and they bark and snap at them, they dont do that to me and only me. My hatchlings Im taming though
