Chris,
. I used to spend a lot of time hunting snakes. I grew up in central Florida and the snake hunting there in the 1960s was amazing. I have been here in Savannah most of the last 25 years. During that time the population of snakes in the area has greatly declined. All native non-venomous snakes are protected in GA. I believe most of the decline is due to development and fire ants. When the weather conditions are right you can still find quite a few snakes in the evening road hunting the Okatie area which is a short drive from here in South Carolina where snake hunting is still legal.

i was just curious...you see, the field herping in Idaho is terrible...unless great basin gophers and fence lizards do it for you. i have no intrest what-so-ever in collecting...i just enjoy taking photographs.

thanks for the input, chris
