anyone else breeds leos in racks read...

beardiekid14 May 06, 2004 06:43 PM

My leos have not yet laid this season though they are both close to 60 grams and the male and one female are 2nd year breeders. I am new to racks because i just bought one from boaphile plastics (which works great), but i do not know how to get them started breeding i tried unplugging it for a while and then turning it on again after a month but i dont think they got the message. Does anybody know about stimulating leos to breed in racks? Thanks for your help!

how long did you try to brumate them...i don't think the "removing the plug" will help much..its summer...its pretty darn hot...if u live where i live...unplugged is still around 80 for me...i usually take my gecko tank, put inside a very cool cupboard, sometimes i blow the fan into the cupboard and i have a dark cloth over my tanks/sterilites...u don't want any light intrusion...well..i think thats what works best for me...what i would do with the rack is tape black construction paper in the front of the boxes...and either have a fan blowing at the rack....which won't work unless u have decent temped air in the room...or blast the AC if u want fast results...i think the light intrusion works the best for me...some of my friends don't even care about the temp...as long as they are kept with no light at al...they breed once the black cloth is removed...but not sure if it'll work for u...

my geckos usually breed regardless of brumation...the male usually goes after the female the moment his tailwiggling confirms that shes a female....

Try removeing the male for awile(couple weeks to a month).
And then reintroduce him. I have heard that works.
