good plants for 2.5 week old ambanja's?

zag May 06, 2004 08:47 PM

Can anyone advise me on good live plants for my baby ambanja's. My enclosure is aprox. 12" X 30" X 24", and I have a 18" uvb with a spot (75 watt) on top. I am looking for a plant(s) that will be easy to maintain and the babies will like and also be able to still find their crix. Thanks for any help. Also any advice on the upkeep and cleaning of live plants would help.

For my baby panthers, I use small ( about 14" high) Ficus Benjamamina. A small Pothos plant would also work good. Any plant that you get should first be washed down in the shower and then allowed to sit for about 2 weeks. This will effectively end the half-life of most commonly usewd pesticides. While your waiting for the plants to be okay, just used some fake plants and vines. Good luck.

If you can't find suitable plants in your area, "Scales" or "Reptile Depot" has some that they will ship to you. I also think "Chameleon Paradise" has plants available.

You'll have to bear with me... Should the pothos just sit in the bottom of their cage in a pot? Do you use regular potting soil then? Also, will the lights I have keep the plant alive /be too hot? Thanks in advance for leading the blind.
