my turtle did the weirdest thing...

Anddawede May 07, 2004 04:44 AM

.... I took him outside because it was a lovely day and for the first 5 or so minutes he just sat there so I moved him to a sunnier spot and sat down on the ground next to him. After about another 5 or so minutes he started peaking out his head and looking around. I was really hoping he would start walking around in the grass but all of a sudden he started digging! When he dug low enough to hide his head, he stopped and just remained that way until I picked him up and brought him inside.

Is that normal behavior for a turtle?

Yes, he was scared. Turtles will always try to get to a dark corner to hide in instead of being out in the open. He couldn't find a hiding place so he made one.
