Need help with water dragon diet....(fish and veggies)

ChrisUK May 07, 2004 10:26 AM

Hi everyone,
I have a water dragon, who I've owed for a year now. He's a good size, taming down nicely and has a monster appetite! He's eating crickets, king mealies, pinkies, locusts(hoppers) and the odd waxworm all topped off with a calcium supplement.
He's in great shape and I'm not concerned by his health, but I wondered if anyone could give me tips on getting him to eat veggies. Have tried a few times with no joy! Also what kind of fish are ok, and how do people feed them? Are small goldfish acceptable? Can you leave the fish in the water? Thanks very much in advance for any advice!
Chris

They don't eat veggies, at least not normally. Mine ate a small amount of apple pieces once, but that was a situation when I ran out of food and couldn't get any for a day or so, so she was really hungry. Some will take veggies, but if yours won't I wouldn't worry about it. I fed mine rosie minnows, I just tossed them in a small dish with no water and let them flop around. Only my bassilisk was able to fish in the pond.
