Great photos, great species - one of my favorites. I've never seen this species in the wild. Are they common at Mingo? Do you have any ventral shots?

Hi Joe,

They are very common at Mingo. On a good day you can see anywhere from 20 to 40. I don't have any ventral shots but could get them if your interested. I'll probably be going back down this weekend. They are a beautiful water snake.

They really are good looking snakes. I had one when I was a kid, 30 years ago. I've never seen one in the wild, but I'll have to make the trip down. Mingo seems like a special place where the deep southern swamps extend a finger into the central part of the country.

I've only been there once, do you have landscape shots?

Mingo is one of my very favorit places. I don't have any landscape or habitat photos now but I will be spending some time there this week and may take some.
