Been awhile ... but Dexter is improving a lot!!!!

Hi all,

It's been awhile since I have been able to come around... Dexter is doing really good....

I did quite a few things... took him to a great vet... Dr. Horton in Skokie, IL (north suburb of Chicago) at Chicago Exotics... she takes care of the zoo reptiles too... 45 min away for me, but worth it.

She put Dexter on a grueling drug routine for a month... triple antibiotic for his nose, antibiotic for his eyes, oral antibiotic, and some new food/medicine that is now out via vets for repitiles who have stopped eating - it is great stuff!!!!

She also told me to get rid of the sand and put the felt in instead b/c of his eyes... and suggested me to get a mercury vapor light, which is what she and other reptile vet emergency rooms use.

I also got him a new 20L tank, but now 18 inches high, instead of 12.

He is really coming around... gaining weight... gained 4 grams last time.. take him in again on the 21st. He is totally enjoying his new light and tank and is hunting and active. Also hear him trying to dig on the felt when he goes to bed every night.

Just thought I would share some good news!! I owe it mostly to Dr. Horton, but also myself for following her directions to the "t."

Have a good one!!

JIM
