Snakes Of Cinema: Kill Bill('s) Brother And Our Industry

snakemastermyke May 07, 2004 01:16 PM

I'm still not sure what to make of either Kill Bill Volume. A bunch of killing spree women named after snakes in a cartoonish fasion of I don't know what. However there was one part I had a clear opinion on. In volume two, Bill's brother is sabotaged by a one eyed freaky blonde. She places a black mamba in a case of money which of course stays perfectly still until Budd uncovers it under a pile of benjamins. Two facial bites and he dies. Who really cares? I do! Why, because the one eyed assasin proceeds to tell Budd she bought this deadly animal onlinefrom a retpile site as he dies. The part that bothers me is that the movies makes it seem as if anyone can go buy mambas and use them as dangerous deadly weapons! All this industry needs is more regulations on venomous reptiles. This movies might generate the needed public clatter to make our animals fall under weapons regulations. Now that is fairly far fetched, but still possable. The happless man who sold Quinton Tarantino the animal actually still posts on kingsnake.com and displays this VENOMOID Mamba celebrity with pride. He should be ashamed. The risk to the industry was not his to take and he has helped establish an unecessary public fear of herp breeders who sell mambas. I hope that we all team up and avoid goons like this who do not consider consequences before profits!

I agree fully. The person that allowed the mamba to be used shouldn't have the right to show their face around other upstanding keepers anymore, especially if it was a venomoid. What a joke. Some idiots just can't get a clue.

I was watching the movie in the theater and when Budd discovered the snake and it jumped and hissed at him, a couple girls behind me screamed and I laughed at them. It's just a snake. Snakes get too much bad publicity as it is, and I don't think that this movie would influence anyone to go out and buy a mamba to kill someone with, it's just another blow to the hobby's image. If I were you guys, I would be ripping on the new Anaconda movie coming out shortly. That's a load in itself.

There is going to be a new one? I remember the older anaconda movie from the mid 90's with J-Lo and John Voight. Watched it the other day and I was laughing so hard. The snake actually screeches. Go figure. Oh well. People will use anything they can to make them some money, and fear sells. The general public=afraid of snakes. Therefore snakes=money to some degree.

Go down about three messages and you can read my opinion on the new Anaconda Movie. Not only is it a bad idea, herpetologically speaking its a joke! The anacondas in this one are from Borneo!

POST FROM BELOW:
Snakes Of Cinema (Vol. 1): ANANCONDA 2

After reading the following article it seems the (queer as) folk from hollywood are herpetologically inept. Columbia tri-star pictures is soon to realease ANACONDAS: THE HUNT FOR THE BLOOD ORCHID. Among the falacies are the fact that it takes place in Borneo, which as the best of us know is not home to any Anaconda! Maybe if this movie were called RETICS it would be different. Then the movies plot refers to a snake guarding an anciet youth serum. Well of course thats just stupid. An anaconda in borneo giving a rats a$$ about some lame flower. LOL. If this isnt enough the movies trailer features, well its what they call an anaconda (which by the way is a computer graphic snake that could possably be Bob Clarks latest burm mutation but it sure ain't an anny). The best part of the preview clip is where this shiney fake looking mostrosity lifts its eyebrow at the camera and squints its small eyes! When ever anyone see's a real snake squint let me know. I know its a low budget film, but folks can't we at least have a herpetologist on set before we make a film about a snake.

Here's The article:
Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid" is a horror-thriller set in a primitive Borneo jungle. A group of scientists set off on a dangerous journey down a jungle river in search of an extremely rare blood orchid that is rumored to be the source of a youth-preserving serum. What they don't realize is that within the mysteries of the jungle lies a deadly predator who keeps the secret of the orchids safe and stops anyone who dares to enter its territory from leaving...
LOL

P.s. At least the first film had J Lo's pretty face to look at. Oh yeah, and it was in the Amazon!
