Just a question for you guys.

amazinglyricist May 07, 2004 01:53 PM

I was at the Colombus Reptile Expo last month and saw some really huge Leopard Geckos and asked the guy how he got his so big cause mine are half that size and full grown, and he told me he feeds them only mealworms gutloaded with something thats pretty much all protien, is this ok to do with Leopard Geckos and if so what is the stuff because I can't remember. I ask this question not to make my adult Leopard Geckos bigger, because I don't think it would work with them already being adults, but to possibly use it on the two baby albino Leopard Geckos I picked up today. Thanks to anyone who gives this post any attention. I'll add a pic of my female, she looks sort of green.

Im not sure exactly. But a friend of mine throws thawed pinkies and mice in her mealworm containers. I can imagine how gruesome that must be to pick out bones..but its probably alot of protein.

thats disgusting..but hey..whatever works for them....ive heard that there are certain dogfoods that exceed 28% protein..."large breed forumulas"...and they grind it to a fine powder for the mealies...ive also used ProGutload by ProGeckos which works awesome...!

if they were twice the size of an adult leopard gecko then it wasn't a leopard gecko. The largest giants are only around 12" not 14 ". It was probably a giant though. Becuase after they reach their "max" length they will just get heavier.

They were twice the sze of my adult Leos(at the very least), mine aren't really big, and I believe he said they were tremper giants or something like that. Their prices were from around $50.00-150.00.

You can pretty much gauge their length by the size of the female in my hand in this picure, they are both this size,I've had them for about a 15 months, got them as babies. I think about 7" svl is their size.

I've been using the special reptile carpet for my leos, is this ok for a substrate, it can't cause impaction, the only problem I've had with it is when they grab a cricket hooking a tooth to it once in a while and it taking them a miniute to get free.
