Hi,
I followed someones instructions of putting a damp cloth over the top of the eggs as the ones on top were drying out and collapsing. Well I did that and the eggs went MOLDY, is this because the eggs were dry for too long or that they were infertile?? The other eggs that were sitting in the vermiculite look fine but im still worried but I have kept the damp cloth on the top still and make it damp again when it dries out.
Am I doing something wrong??

thanks in advance

If the eggs start to collapse, then I think to myself that they are low on humidity, I add some water to the vermiculite (away from teh eggs) and if the eggs are seriously dented I would put a damp paper towel on teh eggs, and leave them that way until the paper towel dries out. I would not leave something on them permanently. Sounds to me like your humidity was too high/cloth too damp. In general a closed container with vermiculite, opened every couple of days to add some air, will do the job so long as it's warm enough.
