I would say that is more than I feed my veild, certainly more than I used to feed my other veilds years back. My veild now eats three to four times a week, and probably eats the equivalent of 6 crickets when he does, except when I have silkworms, then he pigs out all day, eats 3-4 of them during the ocurse of a day.
What you have to consider is that they don't digest food as well if their totally full. If you fed him a cricket, waited a few hours, then repeated a few times a day, he'll probably extract more nutrients out of 3 than he would 6 crickets.
My veild is huge, approaching 18-20 inches, and I do not feed him that much. I said in an earlier post that I have not been watching him too much for the past 3 weeks because of the problem my deremensis has had. After just a few weeks of eating too much, he's fat. The sides of his casque bulge, the back of his casque bulges, he's disgusting! Over feeding can be a big problem with chameleons, except melleri I think...
Our male adult veiled doesn't eat much at all compared to some of our other guys. He probably eats the equivalent of 6 crix or less a day and is active and healthy though I hesitate to ever call him happy. *grin* Compared to some other lizards though, it does seem like a tiny bit. When DH sees my geckos decimate my mealworm bin he always gets a little worried about poor old Ramses not eating enough.
