She's Digging WOOHOO!!!!!

RedQuake May 07, 2004 04:51 PM

I'm thinking Flame wasn't being allowed into the humid hide and had decided she wasn't going to lay on the tile this time. The humid hide i have for the 4 girls is one huge tupperware container but aftre observing them for a while, i noticed that Karma was always in there and for the most part the others weren't.

So last night i took it out, checked for any eggs (nope) then put in a divider and now i've found Flame in there digging away. As of yet, no eggs but i'm hoping soon......sadly all of the others have collapsed and gone green with mold. I'm so not happy with that. I don't know if i'm doing something wrong or if the sustrate is bad or what but this is getting to be upsetting, which i don't need right now cause i just found out that someone i know died in a car accident.

Its weird, i had just seen him not that long ago but i was in a rush and didn't stop to say hi.

I had a few things i wanted to do today....bought a HUGE tank for my crested geckos and was going to set it up, but now i just don't feel up to doing anything. I did get the bathroom cleaned this morning so thats something...

I'm happy and sad at the same time....expecting eggs helps i think.

Wow, sorry to hear about your frined...i had 2 close friends die in a car accident a year ago..

as for the eggs
are the temps right? are they constant? is there enough humidity?
the humidity should be at about 83-85% in the incubator itself, temps should never go below 70 and higher than 90, and the substarte(i assume your using vermiculite?) should be just moist enough for is to clump together, but not soakinh wet.. it's either that or the eggs where never good to begin with, good luck with this next clutch, i hope she lays em for ya today

Thanks I'm still just shocked.....the funeral is tomorrow and i'm working a double shift at work so i can't go......

The temps are perfect for the eggs and so is the humidity. I switched to perlite with the second clutch after the first went bad in the vermiculite. I hoped it was just the vermiculite but now i'm wondering....She laid good clutches for the breeder i got her from so i'm assuming the eggs are good....i'll recheck the temps and humidity but i'm pretty sure my digital readings are correct.

Thanks again......getting some eggs tonight would really lift my spirits a bit.
