He is either trying to figure a way out through the force field or trying to scratch an itch, rmove shed. It is best NOT to handle a tegu after eating as theyu may get excited and vomit up the food they ate.

They dont like glass much... he's trying to get out... Try taping paper on there and see if he calms out. My like being handled before eating

Thanks for the advice....I jsut thought maybe hed eat me if I didnt feed him first and wait a while for him todigest/ Also I want to feed him tehse waxx worms but he jsut doesnt think they are food, I am trying to get him to use a dish, but with live crickeets they dont exactly stay still....

waxworms are like candy and have little nutritional value. You can use a shallow bowl for crix but its not needed, let him get some exercise

yea, waxworms are very fattening... I'd say try superworm or mealworms instead

Ok....well thats not hard considering he doesnt even look at em... He only eats crickets tommroow i think illget him some ground lean turkey as well as for myself, and slip soem grut in there, I will dust too...thats the hardest part for me to remember i always kind of get excited when its time to feed cause its quite a site.he runs all over the place. I will try to get him superworms, tommoroow tho its turkeball and fruit, surprisingly enough i was talking about that too my friend as my strategy for the fruit turkey balls with fruit inside...so th and a nd acouple of criks tommorow. I heard mealworms could stay alive in their stomach if their head isnt chopped off? is this true or not? Im not sure; I had a hedgehog for 5 1/2 yres and he loved those guys.....What does a superworm look like btw? Also is gutloading considered dusting crickets and other food with vitamins and minerals.....OR is it feeding the prey very nutrient enriched food and then feeding to your lizard? Everyone is very helpful on thsi forum THANKS for the help.......tongiht he has been buried since about 6 pm I dont think ill seee anymore of him

have you ever seen a tegu eat? the way they chew up worms there is nothing that could survive that. The stomach acid in a tegu disolves bone, worms aren't that tough. No they cannot eat their way out, it's an urban myth.
superworms look like giant mealworms but have a more easily digestable chiton.
Gutloading is nice but dusting is way more important. gutloading is "loading their gut" with good food just prior to feeding. their stomachs dont hold enough to make it verry effective. dusting provides a lot more nutrients.
